ABBIS successfully closes fiscal year 2009 and records strong revenue growth
2009 has been a very successful year for ABBIS - bio process automation in which ABBIS achieved strong revenue growth. Despite the global economic challenges ABBIS recorded revenue growth of more than 30% compared to 2008 according to preliminary unaudited company figures.
Highlights 2009
In October, ABBIS in alliance with two more companies and the University Hospital Hamburg won the prestigious Innovation Contest Medical Technology of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany. The award was granted for the development of a medical device for routine tumour diagnosis and comes with price money of Euro 1.5 million. In 3 years time the medical device shall be launched and the series production shall also be conducted at ABBIS.
In August, the microfermentation system BioLector of m2p-labs GmbH was selected as a landmark in “Germany - land of ideas”. The initiative under the patronage of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany chose the BioLector out of 2000 applications. Starting with an existing functional model ABBIS engineered and designed the BioLector which is now available in three different configurations. Since the end of 2007 the BioLector is being produced in series by ABBIS.
In April, ABBIS launched a complete new company web site (www.abbis.de). The major goal of the redesign has been to make ABBIS core competencies and the broadened service offering more transparent to existing and new customers.
In sum, in 2009 ABBIS has strategically been focusing on its core competencies in engineering, design, and contract manufacture for B2B-customers in Life Sciences, Diagnostics and Medtech. In 2010 and beyond ABBIS will continue executing on this strategy.
Outlook 2010
In 2010 ABBIS again expects strong revenue growth. ABBIS will expand its business development activities to the US Diagnostics markets. Within the scope of this initiative for the first time ABBIS will be exhibiting at the AACC Clinical Lab Expo in Anaheim, California, which is the largest clinical lab exposition in the world. In October, ABBIS again will be exhibiting at the Biotechnica show in Hannover, Germany.
